About the Project
The Teatr Brama Association is both the initiator and a partner of the “ID:Pomerania” project, implemented within the Interreg VIA programme in the years 2025–2027.
The project partners include the Municipality of Goleniów, the STRAZE Centre for Culture and Initiatives, and the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald.
Project Objective
The project aims to foster cooperation in the field of arts and culture in Polish-German Pomerania. It seeks to strengthen the sense of identity and the awareness of a shared culture and tradition. It also aims to provide mutual support among the partners in their social and cultural activities in the region of West Pomerania and the border regions of Western Pomerania (Vorpommern) and Brandenburg.
Historical Context
The history and culture of Pomerania form a complex network shaped by shifting borders. The project partners observed a lack of community feeling and unique identity among residents, as well as their disconnection from tradition and history.
On the Polish side, residents were resettled to unfamiliar lands. On the German side, culture was marked by the experiences of World War II. Artists rarely draw upon tradition, as it is often appropriated by radical groups and takes on negative connotations. Since 1945, societies on both sides of the border have been building their identity and symbolism almost from scratch.
A New Perspective on Pomerania
Artists and cultural animators see great potential in promoting the region as a place rich in grassroots cultural and social initiatives carried out in the spirit of democracy.
As part of the project, a social media platform will be created to promote key cultural and artistic initiatives and to present the history of the region. Pomerania has the potential to become a space for innovative, intercultural activities that influence the everyday life of the local community.
Project Structure
The project consists of four main components:
- ID:Pomerania Process – three cycles of local culture-creating processes
- ID:Pomerania Event – eighteen curated events in the form of public gatherings
- ID:Pomerania Festival – three open festivals
- ID:Pomerania Lab – twelve meetings and discussion panels on the region’s culture and traditions
Thanks to its history connected with various nationalities that have inhabited the area and its well-developed infrastructure, Pomerania remains a meeting place and a crossroads of cultures.

Der Verein Teatr Brama ist Initiator und Partner des Projekts „ID:Pomerania“, das im Rahmen des Interreg-VIA-Programms in den Jahren 2025–2027 umgesetzt wird.

Ziel des Projekts
Ziel des Projekts ist es, die Zusammenarbeit im Bereich Kunst und Kultur in der deutsch-polnischen Region Pommern zu fördern. Es soll das Gefühl der Identität sowie das Bewusstsein für gemeinsame Kultur und Tradition stärken. Darüber hinaus sieht das Projekt eine gegenseitige Unterstützung der Partner bei sozialen und kulturellen Aktivitäten in der Region Westpommern sowie in den Grenzregionen Vorpommern und Brandenburg vor.
Historischer Kontext
Die Geschichte und Kultur Pommerns ist ein komplexes Geflecht, das durch wechselnde Grenzen geprägt wurde. Die Projektpartner stellten ein fehlendes Gemeinschaftsgefühl und ein schwaches Identitätsbewusstsein der Bewohner fest, ebenso wie eine Entfremdung von Tradition und Geschichte.
Auf polnischer Seite wurden die Einwohner in ein fremdes Gebiet umgesiedelt. Auf deutscher Seite ist die Kultur durch die Erfahrungen des Zweiten Weltkriegs geprägt. Künstler greifen nur selten auf Traditionen zurück, da diese oft von radikalen Gruppen vereinnahmt werden und eine negative Konnotation erhalten. Seit 1945 bauen die Gesellschaften auf beiden Seiten der Grenze ihre Identität und Symbolik nahezu von Grund auf neu auf.
Ein neuer Blick auf Pommern
Künstler:innen und Kulturschaffende erkennen ein großes Potenzial darin, die Region als Ort vielfältiger, basisnaher kultureller und sozialer Aktivitäten im Geiste der Demokratie zu fördern.
Im Rahmen des Projekts entsteht eine Social-Media-Plattform, die die wichtigsten kulturellen und künstlerischen Initiativen sichtbar macht und die Geschichte der Region näherbringt. Pommern hat die Chance, zu einem Raum für innovative, interkulturelle Aktivitäten zu werden, die den Alltag der lokalen Gemeinschaft beeinflussen.
Projektstruktur
Das Projekt besteht aus vier Hauptelementen:
- ID:Pomerania Prozess – drei Zyklen lokaler, kulturbildender Prozesse
- ID:Pomerania Event – achtzehn kuratierte Veranstaltungen in Form von offenen Begegnungen mit der Öffentlichkeit
- ID:Pomerania Festival – drei offene Festivals
- ID:Pomerania Lab – zwölf Treffen und Diskussionspanels über die Kultur und Tradition der Region
Pommern bleibt – dank seiner Geschichte mit verschiedenen Nationalitäten und seiner ausgebauten Infrastruktur – ein Ort der Begegnung und des kulturellen Austauschs.
Das Projekt „ID:Pomerania“ wird durch die Europäische Union aus dem Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE) mitfinanziert.
