VOICES
Voices is a project that blends music, theater, and performance art. Four non-actors, co-workers, and friends invite the audience on a journey – an intense, sensual experience based on sound, presence, and emotions. The performers share moments of doubt, feelings of hurt and hopelessness, leading the audience towards light, acceptance and the shared experience of being together.
The audience takes their places on a square stage, facing each other. At the beginning of the performance, thick smoke prevents them from seeing each other, directing all their attention to the performers and the sound. Gradually, the space reveals itself and the presence of other audience members becomes part of the experience.
In Voices, we consciously abandon narrative literalism, text, and intellectual elements. The performance is based on sound, music, light, color, gesture, and emotion. It does not tell a story in the traditional sense, but creates conditions for mindful experience and exploration of one’s own emotional state.
The central element of the performance is traditional polyphonic songs from around the world, performed mainly a cappella, in polyphonic forms. Here, the voice becomes the basic tool of expression and encounter – a carrier of the primal experience of humanity, independent of language, origin, or individual biography.
