Teatr Brama has spent many years researching and working with traditional Slavic singing and customs. We regularly lead Christmas caroling expeditions through the villages in our region and have traveled as far away as Romania and Ukraine to observe and participate in this ritual. Caroling is a centuries tradition that took place before it was adapted into Christianity. In pagan times, people sang around the time of winter solstice for praise and joy, to encourage fertility, to scare away bad spirits and encourage the end of winter/arrival of spring.
