Teatr Brama in their performance “Ghost Dance” uses dance and song to scream out pains of their young and tender hearts. Without any apologies, with the voice of rebellion they call out the cynicism, hypocrisy, unfounded take-overs, religious indoctrinations, spiritual and cultural crisis of the current world. It’s a voice of many tongues – the actors come from Poland, USA, Venezuela, and Ukraine. Many of them were eyewitnesses to critical shifts in their countries, traumatic events, personal tragedies. That’s why this voice is so convincing and meaningful – because it’s true. I had an impression, that actors “don’t play”, but put themselves in shamanistic state, without skin and masks – with true and raw emotion. I warn you that the performance is very taxing emotionally for both the actors and audience. From the first scene we see true tears, which aren’t forced. There’s also laughter, cackling through tears and finally spitting through clenched teeth, through which trickle uncomfortable topics. There are many scenes in the play, which stay in the throat, slap our thoughtless stances and whip indifference. It’s the manifesto of the young, which mantle the ghosts of shamans, hippies and show giant middle finger to the current state of the world. They call, they whisper, they scream for peace, with sound they put our sensitivity in vibrations, with music they smooth out our wrinkled foreheads.”
